National Day Parade

Singapore's stunning show celebrating independence

The Show

The specific details of each year's National Day Parade (NDP) events are always tightly guarded, but through previous years' happenings and some sneak peaks from NDP 2018, you can know what to look forward to. Every year, the NDP creates a visually captivating and exciting experience with massive displays and performances and amazing special effects. In 2018, it has been revealed that events will include audience participation and emotional, meaningful films within the show. Plus, the Marina Bay -- and the surrounding waters -- will somehow be incorporated. Remember to keep your eye out and consider going to the Parade yourself to experience everything live and in-person

Theme and Logo

The theme of NDP 2018 is "We are Singapore." This slogan celebrates the people of Singapore and the nation as a whole. Regardless of belief and origin, the theme emphasizes the unity of the diverse, yet powerfully connected, Singaporean people. Singapore is not just a home, but a way of life.

A crescent moon allows the "i" to stand out in the logo, symbolizing the way in which many individuals come together to create one greater nation. Along with the crescent, five stars are present in homage to Singapore's flag. Containing everything is a bold speech bubble that represents the strength of Singapore when standing as a whole and denotes a commitment to the country and its future on behalf of all Singaporean citizens.

The Song

"We Are Singapore": not only this year's theme and logo, but the title of the theme song as well. The song is a new take of the 1987 song that declares unity among Singaporeans. It incorporates words from a speech by Mr Lee Kuan Yew, a leader who spearheaded Singapore's progress with dedication and passion for over 20 years. The fresh rendition of "We Are Singapore" represents the timelessness of the messages and values present within the song. The song emphasizes strong national pride, cultural tolerance, and the importance of concepts such as justice, equality, happiness, prosperity, and progress.
